Aiming for strengthening diplomatic relations between Myanmar and Belarus, a commemorative tree planting event took place at the Nay Pyi Taw National Herbal Park under Department of Traditional Medicine on Pyinmana-Taung Nyo road in Zabuthiri Township on Friday.

Acting President and Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commssion Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and Belarusian President Mr. Alexander Gregoryevich Lukashenko attended the event togehter with Prime Minister U Nyo Saw, SSPC Secretary and Joint Executive Chief General Ye Win Oo, Union Ministers and Belarusian delegation.

First, the visiting Belarusian President and the Acting President planted commemotive Gant Gaw Tree at the designated place, sprinkled scented water, posed for commemorative group photo and observed around the park viewing the commemorative trees which were planted by the heads of ASEAN and BIMSTEC member countries.

Plants and bats are being removed from ancient buildings in the Bagan World Heritage Site using chemicals, according to the Department of Archaeology and National Museums (Bagan Branch), Conservation Department.The bamboo trees growing on ancient buildings in the Bagan World Heritage Site. The roots of the banyan tree and other plants have caused cracks in the ancient buildings, allowing rainwater to enter, and birds such as pigeons and bats that roost inside the pagoda can damage the wall paintings.Such rainwater infiltration and bird droppings have also damaged the plasterwork and wall paintings inside the ancient pagoda.To prevent and ensure its long-term sustainability, a team of staff and experts from the Department of Archaeological Research and National Museum (Bagan Branch)’s Maintenance Department, Laboratory Department, and other departments have been working to remove No 1662 (Gupisatgyi) pagoda.The systematic removal of trees with chemical pesticides and the chemical removal of bats inside the ancient building No 1668 (Shwehteesaung) pagoda are being carried out in collaboration with the ASI team. — ASH/MKKSgnlm

Nine new names unveiled for tropical cyclones
Nine new names have been unveiled for tropical cyclones this year in the western North Pacific and the South China Sea. The Hong Kong Observatory proposes Dim-sum as a contender. Other names include Hebi and Tomo, proposed by Japan which are constellations.Cambodia contributed “Koki,” which is a local large tree with a hard flesh. South Korea put forward the name Narae, which means wings. The new names will replace old ones of tropical cyclones which caused serious casualties and economic losses.mitv

Union Minister for Hotels, Tourism and Culture U Maung Myint, together with responsible officials, visited and inspected the General Aung San Museum (Yangon) under the Department of Archaeology and National Museum on the afternoon of 7th June.Officials separately explained the current status and completion progress of the ongoing works. The Union Minister said that during the Head of State’s visit to Yangon Region, guidance had been given to carry out major renovation and conservation work at the General Aung San Museum (Yangon).He added that the Buildings Department began the major renovation and preservation work on 13 November 2025, and that the work is now nearly 100 percent complete. He further stated that by the upcoming Martyrs’ Day, the museum would be able to display expanded exhibition halls and preservation works carried out to strengthen the structure while maintaining its original architectural style and heritage value.The Union Minister then inspected the renovation and maintenance works at the General Aung San Museum (Yangon) and gave necessary instructions and guidance where required, it’s reported. mitv

The work coordination meeting of the Steering Committee for the Purchase, Distribution and Sale of Urea Fertilizer was held Monday afternoon at the meeting hall of the Union Minister’s Office of the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development.Chairman of the Steering Committee and Union Minister U Myo Zaw Thein attended the meeting and delivered the opening remarks. First, the Steering Committee Chairman Union Minister stated that the Myanmar Fertilizer, Seed and Pesticide Entrepreneurs Association should promptly distribute the required tonnage to the respective regions and states as quickly as possible.He also urged the association to collectively calculate and submit proposals for setting lower prices if international market prices decline. In addition, he emphasized the need to systematically record the distribution activities of each company involved in the purchase, importation, distribution, and sale of chemical fertilizers.Afterwards, an official from the Myanmar Fertilizer, Seed and Pesticide Entrepreneurs Association presented the current status of the purchase, distribution, and sale of urea fertilizer, as well as the publication of Yangon wholesale base prices.
