The Philippine government officials said that nineteen people are trapped after a nine-storey building under construction collapsed near the Philippine capital Manila on Sunday.

Officials reported that at least 24 people have been rescued from the rubble and surrounding areas with no deaths reported. Over 100 emergency personnel and police officers are managing the site and heavy machinery is being deployed to clear large chunks of concrete.

The Ministry of Electricity and Energy is working to provide electricity to the public reliably. However, due to various challenges, some planned power projects could not be completed, so only about 70% of electricity demand is currently being met.Electricity use is increasing by about 15% every year, causing a gap between supply and demand. About 8% of generated electricity is lost due to internal use in power plants and transmission losses in the grid.The ministry also stated that some power plants, substations, and transmission lines have been damaged and cannot be fully used, which puts extra pressure on the remaining system. Repair work is being carried out by ministry staff with support from security forces and local communities.However, they report facing dangerous conditions during repair work, including attacks and landmines, which have caused deaths and injuries among workers. Despite these difficulties, the ministry continues to repair and improve the system and still manages to increase electricity distribution, even when water levels in reservoirs are very low. Chairman of State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Sayadaw Dr. Bhaddanta Candimabhivamsa, traveled to South Korea to attend the "50 Years of Gratitude & Friendship, 100 Years of Mercy” ceremony in Seoul on May 24.The visit came at the invitation of the Korean Wave Culture Industry Forum (KWCIF). The Sayadaw and delegation arrived in South Korea on May 22 and was welcomed at Incheon Airport by Myanmar embassy officials.During the visit, the Sayadaw met senior Korean Buddhist leaders at Jogyesa Temple and the Jogye Order headquarters in Seoul.The delegation also visited Dongguk University, met students, and joined a live program on Korea’s Buddhist Broadcasting System (BBS), where the Sayadaw answered religious questions. They also visited famous Buddhist heritage sites including Bulguksa Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and Tongdosa Temple.mitv
