Deputy Minister for Education Dr. Zaw Myint visited Yangon University of Economics on May 23 to oversee the development and infrastructure improvements.

The visit included the Ywathagyi, Kamayut, and Hlaing campuses. The Deputy Minister and party inspected the university entrance, lakes, landscaping, classrooms, student hostels, and sports facilities, and coordinated necessary improvements. They also observed the library, classrooms, and ongoing master’s degree examinations. In addition, the Deputy Minister inspected possible upgrade plans for the Hlaing campus.

Schools across Myanmar, including monastic schools and nunnery, are preparing to reopen on June 1 for the new academic year.As part of ongoing educational support, donation activities were held at the Khay Mar Yama Nunnery in Thanlyin Township, where donors contributed cash and school supplies for around one thousand students. Providing free educational materials helps reduce the burden on families and encourages higher school attendance. We really appreciate for the contribution of the donors."Aye Mu, Middle School Teacher said "The donation program plays a key role in supporting teaching and learning activities. Students are more motivated when they are provided with sufficient learning materials and a supportive environment."Enrollment for all grades will be conducted from May 25 to 31, including weekends, as part of nationwide preparations for the 2026–2027 academic year. It is learnt that students will receive free textbooks, notebooks, stationery, and uniforms, with no enrollment fees required. The move aims to promote equal access to education and reduce financial burdens on families.mitv

International Day of Yoga: Commemorative event held in Nay Pyi Taw
The 12th International Day of Yoga in Nay Pyi Taw is observed on Sunday, under the global theme, "Yoga for Wellness, Wisdom, and World Peace".Prime Minister U Nyo Saw attended the event held at Water Fountain Square in the compound of Maravijaya Buddha Park. The event included demonstration of various yoga postures, and common yoga protocol.  Yoga embodies unity of mind and body, thought and action, restraint and fulfillment, harmony between man and nature, and a holistic approach to health and well being. The United Nations General Assembly on December 11, 2014, designated June 21 as the 'International Day of Yoga' recognizing the benefits of practicing Yoga for holistic approach to health and well-being of the world's population.The Embassy of India in Myanmar, alongside the Ministry of Religious Affairs and local yoga enthusiasts, traditionally hosts collective events and guided sessions across the capital.mitv

Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Myo Zaw Thein met with the staff from the University of Cooperative and Management (Thanlyin) and departmental offices in Thanlyin District on Saturday.During the meeting, officials explained the university’s education programs, HRD training courses, research activities, international workshops and staff housing needs. Union Minister for Health Professor Dr. Thet Khaing Win inspected the health facilities in Pathein on Saturday.At the Nursing School, the Union Minister viewed classrooms, the computer room, library, skill lab, hostels and dining hall, and met teachers, staff and students. On Friday, Union Minister for Education Dr. Chaw Chaw Sein, together with the officials, inspected the completion status of the recreation centre and 6-storey building, as well as the designated site for the construction of a 4-storey staff housing within Meikhtila University compound and gave instructions to ensure structural resilience, compliance with standards and timely completion of the project.At Meikhtila Education Degree College, the Union Minister inspected the designated sites to construct a canteen and stadium and provided necessary guidance. At No.3 Basic Education High School, Basic Education High School (ChiSet), and Basic Education High School (Tawma), the Union Minister oversaw the arrangements to reconstruct earthquake damaged school buildings and instructed on systematic preparations for upcoming school enrollment season.The Union Minister also visited Kyaukse University, Mandalar University and Yadanapon University, and inspected the planned sites to construct convocation halls, staff housings, multipurpose halls and completion condition of recreation center.In the afternoon, the Union Minister visited Mandalay University, met with the region Chief Minister U Myo Aung, the rector and professors.During the meeting, the Union Minister made discussions on matters pertaining to renovation and reconstruction of earthquake damaged buildings and facelifting measures.After the meeting, the Union Minister inspected the allocated areas for the construction of classrooms and dormitories.During the meeting with the faculty members, the Union Minister called for the active participation in research activities for the implementation of Centre for Research and Innovation (CRI). Upon arrival at Mandalay Education Degree College, the Union Minister inspected the proposed sites to construct staff housing and fulfilled necessities.At Basic Education High School (Anee Sakhan) and Basic Education High School Branch (Pway Taung (Nandawon) in Pyin Oo Lwin Township, the Union Minister inspected the designated sites to expand classrooms.
