The 12th International Day of Yoga in Nay Pyi Taw is observed on Sunday, under the global theme, "Yoga for Wellness, Wisdom, and World Peace".

Prime Minister U Nyo Saw attended the event held at Water Fountain Square in the compound of Maravijaya Buddha Park. The event included demonstration of various yoga postures, and common yoga protocol.  

Yoga embodies unity of mind and body, thought and action, restraint and fulfillment, harmony between man and nature, and a holistic approach to health and well being. 

The United Nations General Assembly on December 11, 2014, designated June 21 as the 'International Day of Yoga' recognizing the benefits of practicing Yoga for holistic approach to health and well-being of the world's population.

The Embassy of India in Myanmar, alongside the Ministry of Religious Affairs and local yoga enthusiasts, traditionally hosts collective events and guided sessions across the capital.
