At the time, four so-called PDF terrorists arrived, forced the driver to get off the vehicle, and robbed the truck, it is reported. According to the investigation, on the same day at 2:00 PM, while the victim was cutting bamboo near the Chaung Thar creek in the township, he stepped on an improvised explosive device planted by the KIA insurgent group, resulting in his injuries, it is reported. Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 19 May 2026 at 11:50 AM, a report stated that the deceased and injured individuals with shrapnel injuries had been brought to Taungoo Township Public Hospital in Bago Region. When security personnel arrived at the hospital to conduct further investigation, the victims were identified as a resident of No. 19 Ward U Khun Htike Aung (aka) Khal Pay (31 years old), residents of No 23 Ward U Saw Sein Min (35 years old), U Saw Yo Aye La (32 years old), Ma Naw Hal Nay Say (30 years old), Ma Naw Ywar Hay Lal Bwal (33 years old), a resident of Mon Kone Village. According to the investigation, the victims were traveling by car from Mon Kone Village to Taungoo Town. While the vehicle reached the area between mileposts 5/6 and 5/7 on the Taungoo-Late Tho Road between 5/6 and 5/7, an improvised explosive device planted by so-called PDF terrorists exploded on the roadside. As a result, U Khun Htike Aung (aka) Khal Pay, while the remaining individuals sustained shrapnel injuries, it is reported. Similarly, on 20 May 2026 at 1:15 PM, a report stated that a man with shrapnel injuries was admitted to Taning Township Public Hospital in Kachin State.
