Opening ceremonies for People’s Military Service Training Course No. (25), aimed at enabling citizens to serve national defense and security duties, were held in the morning on May 25th, at various training schools located within the respective regional military command areas.
During the ceremonies, the commandants of the respective training schools delivered opening remarks.
The ceremonies were attended by the Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, region and state chief ministers, Commanders of regional commands, and other responsible officials. They met with the trainees of People’s Military Service Training Course No. (25), presented honorary cash awards, food items, and personal supplies for the trainees, and warmly greeted and encouraged them.
Since every citizen has the responsibility to safeguard the Three Main National Causes — non-disintegration of the Union, non-disintegration of national solidarity, and perpetuation of sovereignty — the People’s Military Service Law was enforced on February 10, 2024, with the aim of providing military training and enabling citizens to fulfill national defense duties. Accordingly, People’s Military Service training courses have been opened and conducted.
The training completed peoples’ military servants of the People’s Military Service training courses are now dutifully serving national defense and security responsibilities in their assigned battalions and units with dedication and commitment, it’s reported.

Tokyo police said 25 people are feeling unwell after a pungent odor was reported at a shopping complex in the Ginza district. Authorities said they received a report around noon on Monday of a foul smell at the Ginza Six shopping complex, and people complaining of symptoms such as coughing.
Police officers rushed to the scene and found 25 men and women who said they had sore throats and other conditions. A total of 19 were taken to hospitals for treatment. 23rd ASEAN Chiefs of Defence Forces Meeting (23rd ACDFM) was hosted via video conferencing system on Thursday. Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services General Ye Win Oo and delegation joined the meeting, together with the delegations from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Viet Nam.
The meeting chair, Chief of Philippine Armed Forces gave opening remarks, followed by presentations on the 23rd ASEAN Military Intelligence Meeting (AMIM) and 16th ASEAN Military Operations Meeting (AMOM). The delegation leaders later make discussion on the theme "Securing Our Future, Together". General Ye Win Oo emphasized that ASEAN has been founded on strong principles and shared goals, with member militaries working to promote regional peace, stability, and development.
He noted that ASEAN unity is essential for addressing current and future challenges, including influence from major powers in the region. He highlighted Myanmar’s progress in holding elections and forming a government based on public representatives, while strengthening national security, rule of law, and governance.
General Ye Win Oo reaffirmed Myanmar’s commitment to an independent foreign policy, fostering good relations with neighbors and partners, and actively cooperating with ASEAN members to ensure regional peace, security, and development for all citizens.
The meeting approved the 2-year Activity work Plan (2026-2028) and Joint Statement of the 23rd ACDFM. Then, the chairmanship was handed over to the Chief of Singapore Armed Forces for the 24th ACDFM. The meeting ended with closing remark by the Chief of Philippine Armed Forces.
