  • Myanmar shrimp exports hit 9,000MT in 10 months (Apr-Jan)

The Department of Fisheries stated that almost 9,000 metric tonnes of shrimp worth US$27.769 million were conveyed to international markets in the past ten months of the current financial year 2025-2026 beginning 1 April.
Myanmar sent over 8,100 metric tonnes of shrimp worth $23.3 million by sea in the past ten months, while 815.79 metric tonnes of shrimp valued at $4.45 million were exported to neighbouring countries at the border, totalling 8,950.86 metric tonnes.
Myanmar exported over 9,000 tonnes of shrimp in the last FY 2024-2025, bagging $30 million, the department stated.
Myanmar steadily exports seafood to 40 countries, including China, Thailand, Bangladesh and Japan through maritime and border trade channels. — NN/KK

The Union Minister and Union Attorney General reviewed and finalized coordination on the draft law, noting that it is an appropriate piece of legislation that should be enacted to successfully implement the State's MSME development policy, ensure alignment with current conditions, and contribute to the country's economic development, it’s reported.mitv

The Myanmar Investment Commission held its meeting No. (2/2026) on February 25th at the Meeting Hall, Office No. (5) in Nay Pyi Taw. The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Myanmar Investment Commission, Union Minister U Mya Tun Oo, and Commission members.During the meeting, the Commission approved, including capital increases for existing investment enterprises, two new foreign investment enterprises from the industrial sector and 15 new Myanmar citizen investment enterprises. The investment amount for these enterprises is 7.644 million USD and 557.907 billion Kyats, which will create 2,449 job opportunities.The enterprises approved at this meeting include electric vehicle assembly, production, and sales businesses, which are critically needed for the country, foodstuff production businesses, livestock businesses, agricultural input production businesses, as well as residential building construction businesses and garment manufacturing businesses that will create numerous job opportunities.Among the 53 countries/regions investing in Myanmar as of the end of January 2026, the countries/regions making the most investments are Singapore, China, and Thailand. The Central Bank of Myanmar (CBM) injected 2.1 million baht and US$180,000 into the market on 24 February, in addition to selling over $2.5 million to edible oil-importing companies.CBM sold $1.1 million, purchased from CMP companies, to edible oil-importing companies, in addition to selling 260,000 yuan in the market.CBM announced on 20 November that it would sell $30 million to fuel oil importers. CBM also injected $543,000 and 1.3 million baht into the market after selling $1.35 million to edible oil- importing companies on the same day.CBM pumped over 971,900 yuan and 4 million baht into the market, and sold over $1.84 million to edible oil importing companies.CBM sold $900,000 to edible oil-importing companies and $2 million to fuel oil-importing companies on 18 February, along with an injection of $2 million, 130,000 yuan and over 679,540 baht on that day.CBM sold over $43 million, 65 million baht and over four million yuan in January 2026.CBM aims to curb the instability in the foreign exchange market and currency devaluation. According to CBM’s notification on 15 March 2024, it has been collaborating with law enforcement agencies to combat and prosecute those who attempt to manipulate the currency market under the existing laws.
