  • MoFA Union Minister receives AHA Centre delegation

Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe received a delegation led by Mr Lee Yam Ming, Executive Director of the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA Centre), yesterday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.
Mr Lee Yam Ming expressed his appreciation for the support and assistance provided by the Government of Myanmar in delivering humanitarian assistance through the AHA Centre. He also briefed the AHA Centre’s plans for the provision of humanitarian assistance to Myanmar.
The Union minister expressed his appreciation for the AHA Centre’s efforts, including the provision of humanitarian assistance during the Mandalay Earthquake, while encouraging for maintaining close cooperation with the Government of Myanmar to ensure that humanitarian assistance is delivered to those who are in need effectively and efficiently. The Union Minister emphasized the importance of ensuring that humanitarian aid aligns with Myanmar’s prioritized needs. He also explained that the Government has facilitated the AHA Centre’s initiatives in delivering humanitarian assistance to the people of Myanmar, and reaffirmed its continued commitment to support the AHA Centre’s operations in Myanmar. — MNA

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, Dr. Soe Win, received Mr. Lee Yam Ming, Executive Director of the AHA Centre, at the Ministry’s reception hall on February 25.During the meeting, both parties engaged in a cordial and open exchange of views on the matters including, the collaborative efforts in earthquake relief following the Mandalay earthquake, including the deployment of ASEAN-ERAT (Emergency Response and Assessment Team) members, the status of reconstruction projects coordinated by the AHA Centre with donor nations.This includes the donation of Prefabricated Schools, Prefabricated Rural Healthcare Centres, and one one-story Reinforced Concrete (RCC) monastery building, funded by the governments of the Philippines, Thailand, and the People's Republic of China, the humanitarian assistance provided by the Government of the People’s Republic of China for earthquake relief and ongoing negotiations for the donation of educational school buildings for long-term recovery.The AHA Centre's distribution of Food and Non-Food Items (NFI) to those in need of assistance across Myanmar. Future coordination between the AHA Centre and the Department of Disaster Management (DDM) to conduct staff capacity-building training programs.mitv

Basic Tax Training Couse: MOFR UM attended the opening ceremony
The opening ceremony of the Basic Tax Training Course No. (1/2026) was held at the Internal Revenue Department, Office No.(46) in Nay Pyi Taw on February 25th. At the ceremony, Union Minister for Finance and Revenue Dr. Kan Zaw highlighted that modern technologies and reforms are being implemented to improve the tax system all over the world. He focused on that this training is specially organized as it is essential for employees from other related government departments to have tax knowledge and cooperation in order to successfully carry out tax-related processes.By working more closely together with respective departments, it will help collect tax revenue to meet its targets the country deserves. He called for everyone to work together to ensure that every citizen understands their tax rights and responsibilities to create a clear and favorable tax environment for domestic and foreign investors.It is learnt that (40) officials from the Ministry of National Planning, Ministry of Finance and Revenue, Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, Ministry of Commerce, and the Office of the Union Auditor General will attend  the course and it will last for two weeks.mitv

Groundbreaking Ceremony: Ceremony for Myanmar Diplomatic Academy held
Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe, attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Myanmar Diplomatic Academy, held at the compound of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nay Pyi Taw at 8 AM on 25th February 2026. At the ceremony, the Union Minister, the Deputy Ministers and ‌a representative of Mother Development Co., Ltd laid stakes at the designated places and sprinkled scented water on them.  Upon the completion, the Ministry will expand its training and educational programs to systematically develop foreign service personnel into highly qualified, next-generation diplomats, while also sharing knowledge on international and diplomatic affairs with interested individuals, including staff from various government organizations and ministries.mitv
