The 2026 Myanmar Fight next-generation traditional Lethwei bouts were held at 1 pm at Theinbyu Gymnasium in Mingala Taungnyunt Township, Yangon Region.
The event was jointly organized by the Department of Sports and Physical Education, the Traditional Myanma Lethwei Federation and the Myanmar Martial Art Group, with major sponsorship from Myanma Economic Holdings Public Company Limited.
A total of 14 three-round men’s bouts were contested, producing six wins and eight draws.
Referee trainees from the 1/2026 referee course opened by the Traditional Myanma Lethwei Federation officiated the next-generation bouts as part of their practical training.
The course covered refereeing rules and regulations, proper conduct and demeanour, and the mindset required of officials. A total of 28 trainees with experience in traditional Lethwei from regions and states nationwide attended the course, which ran from 22 to 28 February.
Traditional Myanma Lethwei Federation President Dr Tin Aung Lwin and executive members attended the event, watched the bouts and presented prizes to the winners. — Bala/ KZL
