A passenger train from China arrived in the North Korean capital on Thursday, state media said, after a six-year hiatus since the service was suspended during the Covid-19 pandemic. China is North Korea's largest trading partner.

Train journeys between the East Asian neighbours were halted in 2020 under strict border closures to prevent the coronavirus from spreading. Trains will run in both directions between Beijing and Pyongyang every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, China Railway said.

An awareness-raising seminar for theatrical artistes was held by the Myanmar Theatrical Association (Central) at its head office in Insein Township on 14 March.The seminar was attended by about 300 participants, including chairpersons, secretaries and representatives from regional, state and township branches of theatrical associations across Myanmar, as well as theatre founders, managers, representatives from various professional committees and other interested theatrical artistes.“We have gathered today to meet one another and seek solutions together. Even the Buddha did not issue the Vinaya rules all at once. According to the teachings of senior monks, the disciplinary rules in religious literature were established only after monks reported issues and determined what was appropriate or inappropriate. Likewise, in the theatrical field, the basic regulations and organizational framework were discussed many times by scholars at the 2008 Theatrical Conference. The wording and concepts were carefully debated, and the constitution of the Myanmar Theatrical Association already exists. Laws and regulations are not fixed forever; they require amendments and adjustments over time depending on time and circumstances. Through discussions and consultations like this, we believe improvements and revisions can be made,” said theatrical actor Pho Chit, chairman of the Myanmar Theatrical Association (Central).The seminar was organized to ensure that theatrical artistes performing on stage avoid inappropriate or indecent performances and refrain from presentations that conflict with existing laws. MOE Meeting: Reviewing the sale of CNG for public transport
The Ministry of Energy held a meeting on Sunday to review the sale of compressed natural gas (CNG) for public transport. Union Minister U Ko Ko Lwin presided over the meeting, and said the government is tackling the fuel crisis through fuel conservation, increasing fuel reserves, alternative import routes and international cooperation.He added that the Ministry has supplied CNG to YBS buses and taxis at 273.25 kyats per kg since 2007, about half the international price. The Union Minister warned that those overcharging could be removed from the CNG program, and emphasized that YBS buses must operate within designated routes to ensure fair service, with metering systems to be installed soon. He added that the Ministry is working to increase vehicle CNG quotas to improve fuel efficiency and public transport convenience.The Yangon Region Government also pledged to monitor CNG services closely, while the Union Minister coordinated further measures based on the attendees’ reports.
