Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, launched key infrastructure and development projects in Assam, including the Shillong–Silchar Corridor, aimed at strengthening connectivity across Northeast India. The Shillong–Silchar Corridor is the first access-controlled greenfield four-lane high-speed corridor and is expected to significantly enhance connectivity between Meghalaya and Assam.

Modi also performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the first phase of an elevated corridor from Trunk Road near Capital Point to Rangirkhari Point in Silchar. The project aims to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity with neighboring states such as Mizoram, Tripura, and Manipur.

JAPAN Airlines Co and Oriental Land Co, the operator of Tokyo DisneySea, unveiled a special passenger jet featuring Disney characters on Wednesday to mark the 25th anniversary of the theme park’s opening ahead of its first flight Thursday. The Boeing 737-800 was painted blue, inspired by the sea, and emblazoned with Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Donald Duck on its exterior. Its first flight from Tokyo’s Haneda airport on Thursday morning is bound for Kumamoto in southwestern Japan, with flights to other destinations to follow, according to JAL. Beverages will be served to passengers in specially designed cups. Wataru Takahashi, president of Oriental Land, said, “We hope visitors will arrive at the park excited after travelling on this special aircraft.” Elementary school students scheduled to take part in the unveiling event were unable to attend because of heavy rain in the Tokyo metropolitan area caused by Typhoon Jangmi. — KyodoGnlm

The Hmaw Film Production family donated K1 million to the Myanmar Motion Pictures Organization on 2 June at the organization’s office in Bahan Township, Yangon, according to Vice-Chair U Aye Kyu Lay.The donation will be used to provide educational assistance, including school uniforms and stationery, for the children of organization members through a donation programme scheduled for June.U Aye Kyu Lay said that Ko Nay Lin Oo and Ma Win Thabyay Htun of the Hmaw Film Production family personally contributed the K1 million for the education support programme.The annual assistance programme for the children of Myanmar Motion Pictures Organization members will be held in June. — ASH/KZLgnlm

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is providing services to thousands of people with disabilities through seven physical rehabilitation centres located in Kachin, Kayin, Shan, and Rakhine states, as well as Yangon, Bago, and Magway regions.ICRC and its partner organizations also provide prosthetic services, assistive devices, walking aids, wheelchairs, and physiotherapy to help people with disabilities regain their mobility and independence.Furthermore, ICRC and its partners promote both physical and mental well-being through sports activities adapted for people with disabilities. To support their inclusion in society alongside physical rehabilitation, they also assist beneficiaries in starting small businesses and provide vocational training.ICRC has announced that all rehabilitation-related services are provided free of charge according to individual needs.
