Dinner Reception: Bangladesh Embassy hosts dinner reception
A reception to commemorate the 55th Independence Day and National Day of Bangladesh was held on March 26 at the Lotte Hotel in Yangon. The event was attended by Union Minister for the Ministry (2) of the President’s Office U Ko Ko Hlaing.
The ceremony opened with the national anthems of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the People's Republic of Bangladesh.
Subsequently, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Myanmar, Dr. Md. Monwar Hossain, delivered a welcome address.
Following that, the Union Minister and wife, along with the Ambassador and wife, cut the cake in commemoration of Bangladesh's 55th Independence Day and National Day.
At the event, the Bangladeshi Ambassador explained the history behind the story of country’s independence efforts.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Myanmar, Md. Monwar Hossain said "26th March is the glorious milestone in our national history. On this day in 1971, Bangladesh achieved independence from the occupation of Pakistan. This year 26th March carries special significance because very recently, we have undergone democratic free and fair elections and the new government is now in place and the Prime Minister guided us with the new foreign policy which included national dignity, constructive cooperation, dialogue and on all issue the interest of Bangladesh should be forefront. Guided by this policy, we are planning and engaging with the international communities along with neighbor such as Myanmar keeping in mind these objectives."
The Ambassador added to continue good relations between Myanmar and Bangladesh and expressed his hope for the constructive engagement based on the policy guideline by the new government.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Myanmar, Md. Monwar Hossain said "We express our best wishes to the people of Myanmar as well as Bangladeshi communities in Myanmar and friends of Myanmar for their future prosperity and growth and we want to go hand in hand for the economic and national prosperity of the two countries."
To mark the country’s declaration of Independence from Pakistan in 1971, Bangladeshi from home and abroad celebrate its Independence and National Day annually on March 26th. It is a national holiday with the participation of government and its people celebrating with parades, patriotic songs and tributes to fallen martyrs.
