Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni met Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha on Saturday to discuss the energy crisis due to Mideast conflicts.

During the meeting, Meloni told the Qatari Emir that Italy was ready to contribute to the rehabilitation of Qatari energy infrastructure, which is essential to energy security on a global scale.

Qatari leader stressed to prioritize political dialogue and diplomacy as the best way to contain the current crisis in the Middle East and its repercussions on energy and supply chains. Italy is highly dependent on energy imports and is concerned about rising energy prices that have resulted from Iran’s effective blocking of the Strait of Hormuz.
