Pope Leo XIV leads Vatican's Easter Vigil Mass
Pope Leo XIV presided over the Easter Vigil Mass at St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City, marking one of the most sacred moments in the Christian calendar. The ceremony took place on Holy Saturday and formally began the global celebration of Easter. The Pope entered the darkened basilica holding a lit candle, symbolizing the light of Christ rising from the dead.
During the vigil, he baptized 10 adult converts from different countries into the Catholic Church. The ceremony is considered the “Mother of all vigils” in Christian tradition because it celebrates the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
