The Myanmar Embassy to the Republic of Korea participated in the Embassy Zone at the Seoul Friendship Festival (SFF) 2026, organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, by displaying traditional Myanmar cultural artworks, traditional cultural items, and souvenir gifts, according to the Myanmar Embassy to ROK.
Myanmar’s Chargé d’Affaires at interim and Ambassador to South Korea U Myo Myint Maung joined the event held on 9 May and warmly greeted the Vice-Mayor of Seoul Metropolitan City Mr Park Chan-gu.
The festival was attended by participants from 72 embassies.  Coinciding with the 30th Anniversary, this year’s festival was held for two days at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul under the theme “30 Years with the World, Bridging Culture Together”.
At the Opening Ceremony of Seoul Friendship Festival 2026, Mr Park Chan-gu, Vice-Mayor of Seoul Metropolitan City, delivered the opening remarks. Brunei Ambassador Pengiran Hajah Nooriyah binti Pengiran Haji Yussof delivered congratulatory remarks on behalf of the participating embassies.
The Seoul Friendship Festival 2026 is the largest annual cultural exchange programme among the international cultural festivals held in Seoul. — Htun Htun/KZL

The opening ceremony for the ground poster of the 2026–2027 academic year Rakhine State-level School Enrollment Week and the School Enrollment Day ceremony were held Wednesday morning in front of U Ottama Park and at the hall in Sittwe.The Rakhine State Chief Minister U Naing Oo and his wife, together with the Speaker of the State Hluttaw, attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the state-level School Enrollment Week ground posters held in front of U Ottama Park. They also sprayed scented water on the ground posters as part of the opening ceremony.At the 2026–2027 academic year Rakhine State-level School Enrollment Day ceremony held at U Ottama Hall, the Chief Minister stated that local officials, social organizations, parents, teachers, and the public should regard it as a national duty to ensure that every school-age child has the opportunity to attend school and should carry out this responsibility with seriousness and commitment.Then, the Chief Minister and his wife, who is also the patron of the State Maternal and Child Welfare Supervisory Committee, along with the Speaker of the State Hluttaw and other officials, distributed school textbooks and stationery to students for the 2026–2027 academic year.On the evening of May 26, the Chief Minister visited the Rakkhapura Buddhist University and the Mrauk-U Dhamma Center located in Sat Yoe Kya  Ward, Sittwe. They paid homage to the Sayadaw of the 18-Mile Forest Dhamma Retreat. The Chief Minister discussed religious affairs and donated offertory funds for religious purposes.After that, the Chief Minister and officials visited the Yechanpyin  shrimp hatchery station in Sittwe Township. The World Health Organization (WHO) revealed on Monday that a rapidly spreading Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has caused 220 suspected deaths, as health officials struggle to catch up with the pace of spread of the epidemic.While 101 confirmed cases and 10 confirmed deaths have been recorded, WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the true scale is far larger. “There are now more than 900 suspected cases and 220 suspected deaths,” Tedros said at the Virtual Ministerial Briefing on the Bundibugyo Ebola Outbreak on Monday. At the Basic Education High School in Kyi Myin Taing Village, Amarapura Township, Mandalay Region, a handover ceremony for a newly rebuilt school building was held Tuesday morning. The original classroom building had been damaged by the Mandalay earthquake, and it was reconstructed and donated under Rotary’s Post-Disaster Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Project.First, the Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung and officials formally opened the new classroom building by cutting the ribbon, sprinkled scented water on the commemorative plaque, and then toured the facility.During the ceremony, the Region Chief Minister delivered an opening speech, expressing gratitude for the support and donations provided by Rotary’s Post-Disaster Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Project in the rebuilding efforts and socio-economic recovery following the Mandalay earthquake. He also thanked the Mandalay Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MRCCI) for its cooperation and collaboration.Next, officials from Rotary’s Post-Disaster Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Project and the Rotary Club of Central Yangon explained the objectives behind rebuilding and donating the new one-story reinforced concrete classroom building, measuring 90 feet by 30 feet, on the site where the previous structure had collapsed due to the earthquake.
