Myanmar has been preparing to host the 11th ACMECS Summit in November, according to the Myanmar Trade Promotion Organization.
Myanmar hosted the Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Senior Officials’ Meeting via video conference on 25 February 2026, chaired by the director-general of the International Organizations and Economic Department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ACMECS SOM Leader for Myanmar and attended by SOM Leaders and representatives from ACMECS member countries, chairpersons and vice-chairs of the ACMECS Coordinating Committees and representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the deputy director-general of the Myanmar Trade Promotion Organization, and officials of the relevant ministries of Myanmar.
Myanmar is currently serving as the rotating chair of ACMECS for the 2025-2026 term. The meeting reviewed the implementation of the ACMECS Master Plan (2019-2023) and discussed drafting a new Master Plan (2026-2030) and strengthening the role and capacity of the ACMECS Interim Secretariat and cooperation with development partners. — NN/KK

The National Defence and Security Council has announced the convening of the First Regular Session of the Third Region or State Hluttaw, to commence on Friday, March 20, 2026, in the respective Region or State Hluttaws. Invitations to attend this session will be dispatched to the Region or State Hluttaw representatives.

It’s announced that Region or State Hluttaw representatives, regardless of whether they have received their invitation letters, should report to their respective Hluttaws no earlier than Saturday, March 14, 2026, and no later than Sunday, March 15, 2026, in order to make necessary preparations for the session.

The National Defence and Security Council has announced that the First Regular Session of the Third Amyotha Hluttaw will commence at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at the Amyotha Hluttaw Meeting Hall in Nay Pyi Taw. Invitations to attend this session have been dispatched to the Amyotha Hluttaw representatives.

Accommodation arrangements in Nay Pyi Taw for Amyotha Hluttaw representatives have been made as follows: (a) For Amyotha Hluttaw representatives who will stay at the Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee Guest House: Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee Guest House (2), (b) For Amyotha Hluttaw representatives who will stay at the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) Quarters: Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP), (c) For Amyotha Hluttaw representatives from the Tatmadaw: No. (3) Transit Camp (Ywar Thaw). The Office of the Amyotha Hluttaw has announced that Amyotha Hluttaw representatives, regardless of whether they have received their invitation letters, should report to the Amyotha Hluttaw Affairs Building I-19 in Nay Pyi Taw no earlier than Thursday, March 12, 2026, and no later than Friday, March 13, 2026, it’s learnt.
