Myanmar Fruit, Flower and Vegetable Producers and Exporters Association (MFVP) said it has been notified that effective penalties will follow if Thiamethoxam and Clothianidin, which are prohibited for two years, are found continuing to be distributed, sold, or used.

The insecticides– Thiamethoxam and Clothianidin – are considered toxic and the 2-year ban was taken into effect as of 12 December 2025 in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, Bago Region, Magway Region, Mandalay Region, Yangon Region, Shan State and Ayeyawady Region which are the biggest producers of paddy, green mung bean and black gram, announced by the Pesticide Registration Board.
