Paper Reading Session: MOALI UM delivered the opening address
The Eighth Research Paper Reading Session of the Department of Agriculture was held at the Union Minister's Office Meeting Hall of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation in Nay Pyi Taw on February 25th.
At the paper reading session, Union Minister U Min Naung delivered an opening address. He stated that the State is implementing target crops to achieve target yields for various crops. In addition to the previously designated ten target crops, onions, garlic, and potatoes have also been designated as target crops with specific yield targets to improve productivity.
Therefore, he urged researchers to conduct studies to identify methods and appropriate technologies for achieving target yields, and emphasized that specialists must work to disseminate necessary agricultural technologies to farmers to ensure their adoption. He stressed the importance of extending these technologies to farming communities.
Subsequently, the Director General of the Department of Agriculture, Dr. Ye Tint Tun, explained the objectives of organizing the paper reading session, after which the Eighth Research Paper Reading Session of the Department of Agriculture commenced. The paper reading session will be held over three days from February 25th to 27th. It is reported that a total of 60 research papers from various departmental divisions at the headquarters and from Regions and States will be presented during the session.
