Chairman’s Cup golf tournament tees off in Mandalay
The Myanmar Golf Federation, with Mandalay Business Capital City Development Ltd and Bago Yoma Eco Resort as major sponsors, held the opening ceremony and first day of the Mandalay leg of the 2026 MGF Chairman’s Cup on 24 February at Yedagon Taung Golf Course in Mandalay.
Officials from the Myanmar Golf Federation, Mandalay Business Capital City Development Limited, Phyo Si Thu Teak Plantation (Myanmar), Bago Yoma Eco Resort, and Yedagon Taung Golf Course, along with players and guests, attended the ceremony.
During the opening event, Myanmar Golf Federation Chairman U Ko Ko Aye, Vice Chairman and Upper Myanmar Golf Federation Sub-Committee Chairman U Tin Ko Ko, Joint General Secretary U Tin Maung Maung Win, Central Executive Member U Soe, Upper Myanmar Golf Federation Sub-Committee Vice Chairman U Hla Soe Oo, and Yedagon Taung Golf Course General Manager U Thant Zin Oo officially inaugurated the tournament with ceremonial tee shots. The first round of 18 holes then commenced.
A total of 232 players are competing in the tournament: 23 professionals, 23 senior professionals, 140 male amateurs, and 46 female amateurs.
The Mandalay leg of the competition will run for four days from 24 to 27 February at Yedagun Taung Golf Course. Alpine bottled water and Burmese Golf (BG) are also supporting the event. — Shine Htet Zaw/KZL
