  • Myanmar, Yunnan ink MoU to co-host gemstone expo in Ruili

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Government of Myanmar and Yunnan Province to jointly organize the Myanmar Gems and Jewellery Exhibition in Ruili, China.
According to the MoU, the two sides will work together to further expand the gemstone trade, promote cultural exchanges, and prevent and control the illegal trade in gemstones, including jade.
The signing marks an important step toward improving border trade and formalizing the gemstone market.
The MoU to jointly host the Myanmar Gemstone Exhibition in Ruili, China, was signed on 25 February at the Haigeng Garden Conference Hall in Kunming, China, by the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation of Myanmar and the deputy governor of Yunnan Province. — ASH/TH
