UK hosts talks on Strait of Hormuz
Britain hosted a virtual meeting on Thursday to discuss how to secure the freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. Representatives from more than 40 countries attended the event. The British government released a statement after the meeting.
It says they discussed boosting diplomatic pressure on Iran over the issue, and rejecting the use of tolls. They also addressed possible sanctions as well as working with the International Maritime Organization on releasing the thousands of ships and sailors trapped in the strait.
