Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Session: Pyidaungsu Hluttaw held its 4th Day of 1st regular session
The fourth day of the first regular session of the third Pyidaungsu Hluttaw was held today on April 7, at 10:00 AM in the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw meeting hall in Nay Pyi Taw.
Out of the 585 eligible Hluttaw representatives, 581 attended. According to the agenda, the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw announced its approval regarding the proposal submitted by the elected President to establish the number of judges of the Union Supreme Court as nine.
The Pyidaungsu Hluttaw also announced its approval regarding the appointment of U Tha Htay as the Chief Justice of the Union, as proposed by the elected President. The Hluttaw further announced its approval regarding the appointment of the Chairman of the Union Election Commission, U Than Soe, along with 15 members, as proposed by the elected President. Regarding the proposed number and designation of Union ministries submitted by the elected President, three Hluttaw representatives held discussions.
The Speaker clarified the response from the elected President. The Hluttaw then announced its approval of the number and designation of Union ministries. Thereafter, the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Speaker presented a list of individuals proposed to be appointed as Union Ministers submitted by the elected President to the Hluttaw. Subsequently, the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Speaker presented a list of individuals proposed to be appointed as judges of the Union Supreme Court submitted by the elected President to the Hluttaw.
Following that, the Speaker announced that any Hluttaw representative wishing to object could submit a list of names. Next, the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Speaker presented a list of individuals proposed to be appointed as the Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar, Dr. Khin Naing Oo, along with Deputy Governors and Directors submitted by the elected President of the Union to the Hluttaw.
The Speaker then announced that any Hluttaw representative wishing to object could submit a list of names. Afterward, the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Speaker presented a list of individuals proposed to be appointed as the Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission, U Soe Thein, along with its members submitted by the elected President of the Union to the Hluttaw. The Speaker then announced that any Hluttaw representative wishing to object could submit a list of names. Today's session was adjourned at 11:28 AM. The fifth day of the first regular session of the third Pyidaungsu Hluttaw will continue on April 9 at 10:00 AM, it’s reported.
