The Speaker of Pyidaungsu Hluttaw and Speaker of Amyotha Hluttaw, U Aung Lin Dwe, met with the standing committees of the Amyotha Hluttaw Tuesday morning at the Amyotha Hluttaw Meeting Hall in Nay Pyi Taw.During the meeting, the Speaker of Pyidaungsu Hluttaw and Amyotha Hluttaw stated that Hluttaw committees are crucial institutions in the implementation of the checks-and-balances processes among the three branches of government.He noted that the standing committees are important Hluttaw committees empowered to connect with, invite, hear, question, discuss with, and request necessary evidence from Union-level institutions established under the Constitution, including the Union Government. He emphasized that the standing committees, namely, the Bills Committee, the Public Accounts Committee, the Hluttaw Rights Committee, and the Government Guarantees, Pledges, Undertakings Vetting Committee must work collaboratively with the government while maintaining checks and balances.He stressed that cooperation is essential for the smooth functioning of the state machinery and for advancing the public interest. He further urged Hluttaw representatives to carry out their duties not merely as a matter of obligation but with genuine dedication for the benefit of the people.Subsequently, the chairpersons and secretaries of the respective standing committees presented on the formation of respective committees, the status of ongoing work, and the future plans.
