Parisian wins raffle 'A Picasso for 100 Euros', with proceeds going to Alzheimer's research
A 58-year-old sales engineer from Paris won the international raffle “A Picasso for 100 Euros” on Tuesday, with proceeds going to Alzheimer’s disease research.
The draw took place at Christie’s auction house in Paris under the supervision of a judicial officer. The Picasso work is a portrait of Dora Maar, created by the painter in 1941 during World War II. Titled “Head of a Woman,” and this was estimated at 1.45 million euros.
This charity raffle was launched in early December in Paris, with the support of the Picasso Administration, which represents the painter’s heirs. The 120,000 tickets, priced at 100 euros each, sold out online in less than four months, across 152 countries. The last ticket was purchased on Tuesday morning. The winner purchased ticket number 94715 this weekend.
