Children's Kabuki on decorated floats dazzles festivalgoers in western Japan
Children performing Kabuki Theater have attracted crowds to a festival in Shiga Prefecture, western Japan. On Wednesday, the main day of the festival, four of the 13 groups that own floats gave performances as offerings at a local shrine.
The stages are built on elaborately decorated floats called "hikiyama." The Nagahama Hikiyama Festival is registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Children's Kabuki is the highlight of the event in Nagahama City.
