Meeting with Agri-staff and Farmers: Rakhine State CM discussed agricultural development
Rakhine State Chief Minister U Naing Oo attended and delivered a speech at a meeting with agricultural staff and local farmers held in the morning of April 22 at U Ottama Hall in Sittwe.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister stated that Rakhine State is a region fundamentally based on agriculture and livestock. Therefore, the state must focus on developing industries rooted in these sectors. He emphasized the need to expand the cultivation of oilseed crops to ensure local oil self-sufficiency. Furthermore, he noted that raw materials from agriculture and livestock should be utilized by MSMEs to produce value-added products. He also highlighted the importance of processing fishery raw materials into finished goods to generate foreign exchange.
Following his remarks, attending farmers presented their agricultural requirements. The Chief Minister addressed their submissions and coordinated with relevant officials to fulfill their needs. He then cordially greeted the attendees.
In the afternoon, Chief Minister U Naing Oo attended a coordination meeting at the State Government Office regarding the 100-Day Plan for the Sittwe City Water Supply and provided necessary guidance.
Later, the Chief Minister and party inspected the ongoing groundwater extraction at the Pedigree Seed Farm in Sittwe, which utilizes a solar-powered system to pump water into a collection tank to replenish the Kandawgyi Lake.
After that, they proceeded to Kandawgyi Lake to inspect water storage levels, distribution status, the structural integrity of the Intake Tower, and the progress of supplementary water replenishment. The State Minister for Development Affairs and other officials provided briefings on the water distribution process to the wards across Sittwe.
Then, the Chief Minister and party inspected plans to install a solar-powered pumping system to distribute water from the Kandawgyi pipeline to residents of Dhanyawaddy ဓညဝတီ Ward to prevent summer water shortages. The Chief Minister coordinated with officials to address requirements and shared warm greetings with the local residents, it’s reported.
