Arms for Peace: 517 former insurgents rejoin legal framework
A total of 470 men and 47 women from various armed insurgent groups, including PDF, KIA, AA, and PLA, have surrendered weapons and rejoined the legal framework. They were welcomed by regional authorities, provided with support, and formally handed over to guardians.
The returnees handed over 31 firearms, 48 grenades, 1 speaker, 35 ammunition boxes, 1,298 bullets, and 3 mines, receiving cash rewards and assistance for peaceful reintegration. Most returnees cited family pressure, internal group conflicts, and a desire to live peacefully under the law as reasons for surrendering. It is learnt that those who wish to return in the future will be welcomed and assisted, with fair rewards for weapons surrendered.
