At the invitation of Mr. Pattana Promphat, Minister of Public Health of the Government of Thailand, a Myanmar delegation led by the Union Minister for Health, Dr. Thet Khaing Win, attended the 2026 World Hepatitis Summit is being held from April 28 to April 30, 2026, at the Eastin Grand Hotel Phayathai in Bangkok, Thailand.

At the opening ceremony, the Thai Minister of Public Health delivered a welcome address. The Union Minister delivered a speech, stating that the summit, held under the slogan "Elimination for Everyone, Everywhere, Right Now," aligns greatly with Myanmar's efforts to ensure no one is left behind in the fight against hepatitis. He also explained the political developments taking place in Myanmar.

Subsequently, the Union Minister elaborated on Myanmar's determined efforts to achieve the goal of hepatitis elimination in Myanmar by 2030, and extensively explained the hepatitis healthcare services being carried out by the Ministry of Health. He urged all attending delegates, experts, and partner organizations from various countries to further collaborate on healthcare activities, including hepatitis prevention and treatment.

Following this, the Union Minister held a separate meeting with Mr. Pattana Promphat, Minister of Public Health of Thailand, to discuss the enhancement of bilateral cooperation on healthcare activities. They cordially and openly exchanged views on matters including strengthening bilateral cooperation on health human resource development, the Dawei Hospital upgrade project, conducting capacity-building training courses for doctors and nurses, improving the healthcare system and bilateral cooperation to achieve the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) goal of accessible and comprehensive healthcare for all and issues that would bring mutual benefits to the health sectors of both countries.
