Three-nation invitational tournament for Myanmar women’s team
The Myanmar Football Federation will organize a three-nation invitational tournament for the Myanmar women’s national team in early June in Yangon.
The tournament is scheduled from 1 to 7 June at Thuwunna Youth Training Centre and will feature host Myanmar alongside Thailand and Singapore. It will follow a round-robin format, with the team earning the highest points crowned champion. The competition aims to support preparations for the Myanmar women’s national team.
The team is currently coached on an interim basis by Daw San San Thein and has begun training since 27 April with a preliminary squad of 35 players. The squad includes overseas-based players such as Win Theingi Tun, May Htet Luu, San Thaw Thaw and Phyu Phway, who will join later.
The Myanmar women’s team exited at the group stage of the XXXIII SEA Games, after which Japanese head coach Yuki departed, and the team paused training due to a lack of international competitions. — Ko Nyi Lay/KZL
