Kayah State Government is actively working to reopen Basic Education Schools for 2026-2027 Academic Year which were temporarily closed due to security concerns.On Saturday, Chief Minister U Aunt Maw accompanied by relevant officials visited Basic Education Schools in Loikaw Township to inspect ongoing cleaning works. At Basic Education High School (Chikei) and Basic Education High School Branch (NamKut), the Chief Minister and officials oversaw the collective cleaning activities and instructed on timely renovation of the school buildings and facelifting measures.Then, the Chief Minister and party proceeded to Myay Ni Kone Basic Education Primary School, Lwal Ta Mu (North) Basic Education Primary School and Pada Nyay Basic Education Primary School, observed the cleaning works and coordinated necessities on providing necessary furniture and clean water access.Afterwards, the Chief Minister and party visited Institute of Sports and Physical Education (Loikaw), met with the trainees from Basic Aviation Youth Training No.10 who will continue their course in Nay Pyi Taw and Yangon and encouraged them to strictly adhere to the established rules and regulations and maintain strong concentration throughout the course.The Basic Aviation Youth Training No.10 was conducted for 3 weeks at Loikaw training camp and will continue in Nay Pyi Taw and Yangon camps for 2 weeks. The World Health Organization confirmed an ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo's remote Ituri province.The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention said that around 246 cases and 65 deaths have been reported, mainly in the gold-mining towns of Mongwalu and Rwampara. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated the agency is working alongside DRC health authorities to contain the virus, deploying emergency medical supplies and deploying experts.Ebola was first discovered in 1976 in what is now DR Congo, and is thought to have spread from bats. The Yangon Region Education Office, under the Ministry of Education conducts the Basic Education Teacher Training in Industrial, Agriculture, and Livestock subjects for the 2026–2027 academic year.The opening ceremony of the training course was held on Friday at Basic Education High School (7) in Insein Township.San San Win, Director (Education), Yangon Region Education Office said "Today’s event is part of the nationwide training courses conducted across five designated zones in Myanmar. The industrial course includes three subjects—industrial mechanics, electrical, and drawing—with six instructors for each subject, totaling 18 instructors. Additionally, six instructors are assigned for agriculture and six for livestock breeding."A total of 312 teachers are attending the training course, which will run from May 14 to May 18, covering both theory and practical teaching methods.Dr. Htet Wai Wai Kyaw, Yezin Agricultural University, Professor said "We are providing basic knowledge on agriculture for Grade-6 students. This includes topics such as farming, gardening, locally significant crops, imported crops, vegetables, soil management, plant diseases, and prevention measures."The trainees include 99 teachers from Yangon Region, 204 from Ayeyawady Region, and 9 from Rakhine State.Zarni Bo, Basic Education Middle School (Pulu Nyaung Wine), Science Teacher said "A total of eight teachers from Eainme Township are attending the training, and I am leading our team. We have been provided with lectures in industrial, agriculture, and livestock subjects. Among these, agriculture is my favorite subject."The training program aims to strengthen teachers’ knowledge and practical skills, enabling them to effectively teach students in industrial, agriculture, and livestock subjects across Myanmar.mitv

A ceremony to donate digitized Tipitaka texts to senior monks, monastic schools, and universities was held at the State Pariyatti Sasana University in Mandalay on Friday.Union Minister for Religious Affairs U Tin Oo Lwin attended ceremony and explained the purpose of the donation. The donation involves 51 volumes of Tipitaka texts, which were reprinted using computer technology to preserve them after older printed copies from 1958 had deteriorated. The digitization project started in January 2024 and completed in September 2025, supported by monastic schools, Buddhist universities, and donors.mitv
