  • Myanmar exports about 300,000 tonnes of rubber in 2025-2026 FY, earning over US$400 million

The Myanmar Rubber Planters and Producers Association (MRPPA) reported that Myanmar exported about 300,000 tonnes of rubber in the 2025-2026 financial year, earning more than US$400 million in export revenue.
“At the end of the 2025-2026 financial year, we were able to export about 300,000 tonnes as expected, earning more than US$400 million in export revenue. Export volumes could have been higher if weather conditions — the main influencing factor — had been more favourable. Normally, October, November, December, and January are the peak harvesting months. However, last year, rainfall continued through October and November, delaying production. The increase in exports was therefore also influenced by weather conditions,” said an official from the MRPPA.
Although the global market price of rubber is nearly $2,150 per tonne, rubber exported from Myanmar fetches only $1,700 to $1,900 due to quality requirements. Myanmar mainly exports rubber to China, its largest market, as well as to countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, South Korea, and Japan.
There are 1.64 million acres of rubber plantations in Myanmar, of which about 850,000 acres are used for extraction of rubber latex. Mon State produces the largest volume of rubber in the country, followed by Taninthayi Region and Kayin State, while other regions and states also contribute to rubber production. — ASH/TH
