  • MR adds new DEMU train on Yangon-Mandalay route

Myanma Railways will introduce a new DEMU train service on the Yangon-Mandalay route starting from 15 May in response to public demand.
The new No 3 Up and No 4 Down DEMU trains will depart from Yangon and Mandalay at 6 am and arrive at their destinations at 4 pm. The trains will stop at Toegyaunggalay, Bago, Nyaunglebin, Toungoo, Pyinmana, Nay Pyi Taw, Yamethin, Thazi and Kyaukse stations.
Ticket prices have been set at K34,000 for first class and K48,000 for upper class. Online ticket sales through the ORTP system will begin on 8 May.
Myanma Railways also announced schedule changes for the existing No 5 Up and No 6 Down DEMU trains from 15 May, with both services departing daily at 7 am from Yangon and Mandalay, respectively. — Htun Htun/KZL

Rakhine State Chief Minister U Naing Oo, together with officials, made a tour to inspect regional development in Man Aung Township on 7th May.At the KhaOhnMaw Village-tract, the Chief Minister and party inspected the Solar Power Station distributing electricity to Man Aung town and villages.After hearing report by officials, the Chief Minister coordinated the needs. They then proceeded to Maha Dhamikayon Monastery, paid homage to the Sayadaws and donated rice and offertories to the Sangha. The Chief Minister and party also joined the inauguration of new school building at the Pre-Primary School in ManAun.At the Myoma Market, they inspected the construction of stalls and stressed to emphasise on cleanliness and fire safety of the market.  The Chief Minister and party also observed Coconut related factory where official presented  the status of products, distribution and future plan.Upon the report, the Chief Minister coordinated the necessaries and viewed around the factory.Later, the Chief Minister met with township level departmental personnels at the office of township administrative department. After hearing the reports by officials regarding the township development, the Chief Minister coordinated the needs, providing food stuff to the staff.mitv

Bagan Archaeology Dept Invites Public to Join Excavations
Department of Archaeology and National Museum (Bagan Branch) under the Ministry of Hotels, Tourism and Culture is conducting excavation and research into the foundation construction systems of ancient buildings in the Bagan World Heritage Site and invites researchers, students, and anyone interested in archaeological excavations to visit and study the site.Although the architecture and artistic features of the ancient buildings in the Bagan region can be observed above ground, excavations and research are being carried out to better understand the underground foundation systems of these ancient structures.Since 2023, excavation and research have been conducted on the foundation systems of 12 ancient buildings from different periods. In 2026, three more ancient buildings in Bagan are scheduled for excavation and research.Researchers, students, scholars, and anyone interested in archaeological excavations are invited to visit and study the site.The Bagan World Heritage Site preserves the heritage features of the ancient city. It is internationally recognized and valued for its unique cultural heritage. The area containing the heritage sites of Bagan is legally designated as a protected Property Area. Within this area, there are 3,595 ancient monuments, along with 242 monuments located in the buffer zone established to protect the cultural heritage, bringing the total number of monuments to 3,837. — ASH/MKKSgnlm
