MR adds new DEMU train on Yangon-Mandalay route
Myanma Railways will introduce a new DEMU train service on the Yangon-Mandalay route starting from 15 May in response to public demand.
The new No 3 Up and No 4 Down DEMU trains will depart from Yangon and Mandalay at 6 am and arrive at their destinations at 4 pm. The trains will stop at Toegyaunggalay, Bago, Nyaunglebin, Toungoo, Pyinmana, Nay Pyi Taw, Yamethin, Thazi and Kyaukse stations.
Ticket prices have been set at K34,000 for first class and K48,000 for upper class. Online ticket sales through the ORTP system will begin on 8 May.
Myanma Railways also announced schedule changes for the existing No 5 Up and No 6 Down DEMU trains from 15 May, with both services departing daily at 7 am from Yangon and Mandalay, respectively. — Htun Htun/KZL
