Bago Region Report for the 2024 Population and Housing Census was released at the City Hall of Bago Township on Wednesday. Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing attended the event, together with Bago Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win, regional officials, Hluttaw representatives, departmental officials and invited guests.During the ceremony, the Union Minister highlighted that the 2024 Population and Housing Census was successfully conducted in October 2024 using domestic human and financial resources without international assistance. The Bago Region report was released as part of the ongoing publication of census findings, including preliminary population data, union-level reports, and statistical summaries.The report contains detailed information on population, migration, education, labor force, employment, disability, housing, births, deaths, and living standards in urban and rural areas of Bago Region. The Union Minister added that the data would support regional planning, policy-making, and socio-economic development, particularly in the education and healthcare sectors.The Bago Region Chief Minister then reported future regional development plans based on census data, while the Deputy Minister explained findings identified in the regional report. The Union Minister later handed over the Bago Region census report to the Chief Minister.Subsequently, the Union Minister and the Region Chief Minister visited the Bago City Sports Hall to observe the staff of the Bago Township Department under the Ministry of Immigration and Population issuing Citizenship Cards and UIDs under the e-ID system through the "La Min Project" to local residents.They cordially greeted and encouraged local residents who had come for citizenship-related services and to collect UIDs, inquiring and discussing any operational difficulties they faced. Afterwards, the Union Minister and responsible officials presented Citizenship Cards and UIDs, which had already been processed on the same day under the government's 100-day “La Min” Project, to individual recipients.They then provided financial support and refreshments to the township office staff. In the afternoon, the Union Minister visited the Bago Region Head Office, met with district, township, and regional level heads of department within the region, provided operational guidance, and coordinated and addressed work-related needs as necessary, it’s reported.mitv
