Union Minister for Hotels, Tourism, and Culture U Maung Myint, along with responsible officials, visited National Museum (Nay Pyi Taw) under the Department of Archaeology and National Museum, in the afternoon of May 14.

During the inspection, the Director General of the Department of Archaeology and National Museum explained the restoration and exhibition status of the Early Historical Gallery (Pyu Era Gallery) and the Historical Period (11th–14th century AD) Gallery (Bagan Era Gallery) in Building B of the National Museum (Nay Pyi Taw), which had been damaged by the Mandalay earthquake and subsequently repaired and rearranged.

The Union Minister then provided guidance, emphasizing the importance of valuing cultural heritage and displaying it using proper preservation techniques. He also advised conducting public awareness campaigns, including via social media, to foster love, appreciation, respect, and value for cultural heritage among the public, and to invigorate patriotic spirit, it’s reported.

The newly constructed 900-foot-long Swar Chaung Bridge (return lane) at Milepost (165/1) on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway was completed and opened to motor vehicle traffic, in the morning of May 14, according to reports.Officials from the bridge construction team stated that the Swar Creek Bridge had been damaged due to the Mandalay earthquake. During reconstruction, Bridge Special Team (6) on the Nay Pyi Taw side and Bridge Special Team (10) on the Yangon side were assigned responsibilities on each end, working around the clock in day and night shifts.Since the area is prone to frequent natural disasters, Elastomeric Bearings were installed to withstand earthquake impacts. Based on geophysical survey results conducted by experts, soil improvement was carried out to increase load-bearing capacity. The construction is now complete, allowing motor vehicle traffic to resume.The ceremony marking the completion of the new Swar Creek Bridge (return lane) and the opening to motor vehicle traffic was attended by Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant, Bago Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win, and departmental officials.The Union Minister and Region Chief Minister provided necessary guidance and then presented commemorative awards to the supervising engineer from Bridge Special Team (10), the supervising engineer from Bridge Special Team (6), and the supervising engineer from the Expressway Maintenance and Supervision Team in recognition of their dedicated efforts to ensure the completion of the Swar Creek Bridge (return lane), within the designated timeframe.Afterwards, the Union Minister, the Region Chief Minister, and officials inspected the traffic flow of vehicles crossing the bridge and the distribution of pamphlets to motorists.
