Tens of thousands of drones have taken to the skies in celebration of major national holidays, projecting traditional cultural motifs alongside futuristic technology. Shenzhen city previously shattered records with a breathtaking display featuring over 22,500 drones taking flight simultaneously, all operated by a single computer system.

International Energy Agency (IEA) chief Fatih Birol warned on Thursday that the global oil market could enter a critical "red zone" in July or August. This impending crunch is driven by peak summer travel demand, dwindling commercial stockpiles, and a severe deficit in fresh Middle East exports caused by the ongoing Iran conflict.The 32-member of IEA coordinated a historic release of 400 million barrels, but these supplies are expected to be exhausted by early August. Birol highlighted that a full and unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz is the single most important solution and the IEA stands ready to coordinate further releases from strategic petroleum reserves.mitv

In celebration of the International Tea Day 2026, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Yangon hosted a reception of Ceylon Tea Evening on May 21st.Jointly celebrated with the Sri Lanka Tea Board, the occasion showcased the rich tea heritage and distinctive flavours of Ceylon Tea. During the event, altogether 7 different kinds of tea varieties were showcased.Ambassador, Prabashini Ponnamperuma, Sri Lanka Embassy, Yangon said "Ceylon Tea is historically famous mainly because it's unique and distinct in flavor and aroma. Because in Sri Lanka, mainly that is climatic conditions is prevailing in Sri Lanka. We have 7 regional categories of tea, the flavor and aroma differ according to the elevation, this means different geographical heights."  The event also offered a unique opportunity to experience Sri Lanka’s renowned tea culture while fostering fellowship and dialogue.President, Ye Htut, Myanmar Tea Producer & Exporters Association said "At the invitation of the Embassy of Sri Lanka, I joined this tea evening to expand tea culture boundaries between Myanmar and Sri Lanka. In the future, we are planning to cooperate in tea sector sharing production and agriculture technique between Myanmar and Sri Lanka. We also found out that green tea cultivation and production are widely expanded in Myanmar. Efforts are underway for more production of green tea for better practices of drinking green tea."Ambassador, Prabashini Ponnamperuma, Sri Lanka Embassy, Yangon said "Importance of this Day is the focus should be on the development of livelihood of tea growers in different countries and to concentrate on the sustainable development, sustainable agricultural practices and how tea agriculture is being utilized for the poverty reduction for the livelihood development of rural folks and how this tea cultivation is managed sustainably." Ceylon tea is a premium, historic term for tea produced in Sri Lanka. Myanmar delegation led by Yangon Region Chief Minister U Aung Naing Thu attended the opening ceremony of International Friendship Cities Cooperation Conference 2026, commenced at Yuzhou Hotel in Chongqing Municipality on May 20th.Mr Zheng Xiangdong, Vice Mayor of Chongqing Municipal People's Government delivered opening remarks. The conference brought together government delegations from 38 cities across 29 countries, representatives from 9 international friendship organizations, diplomatic envoys from 17 nations, and delegates from foreign enterprises and business associations as well as Consuls General based in Chongqing and Chengdu.The conference was successfully held in full swing with the introductions and presentations about the cities, remarks of the speakers and displays of significant outcomes of the friendship cities cooperative measures.
