Union Minister for Labour U Khin Maung Soe, on Wednesday morning visited, a civility and ethics training course being conducted for 1,000 children of insured workers covered under the Social Security Scheme in Hlegu Township, where he observed and encouraged the activities of a mobile medical treatment team providing on-site healthcare services.

The mobile medical team, consisting of 25 healthcare personnel including three specialist doctors and seven assistant doctors, carried out health examinations for insured workers covered under the Social Security Scheme and their children.

The team also provided education on health practices necessary to reduce the occurrence of related illnesses and distributed medicines. Afterwards, the Union Minister visited the G&F (Myanmar) Garment Co., Ltd’s garment factory in Hlegu Township and observed the workplace activities being carried out peacefully to improve productivity.

Free Medical Healthcare Service Program for local residents was carried out at Aung Si Tha Monastery in Pobbathiri Township.The program was organized by the Department of Medical Treatment in collaboration with specialist doctors from Nay Pyi Taw 300-Bedded General Hospital and Tatkone 100-Bedded Hospital. Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Kan Myint Than visited the venue and observed the provision of free medical treatment and healthcare services measures.They also presented nutritious foods and medicated mosquito nets to the residents, and offered commemorative fruit baskets to the specialist doctors.During the program, the doctors provided medical treatment and healthcare services to a total of 536 patients, including 135 general patients, 22 pediatric patients, 15 surgical patients, 81 orthopedic patients, 14 obstetrics and gynecology patients, 112 eye patients, 28 dental and oral patients, 4 physiotherapy patients, 108 X-ray examinations, and 17 ultrasound examinations.

The 29th Painting, Cartoon, and Poster Competition commemorating the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was held Thursday morning at Basic Education High School No. (2), in Latha Township, Yangon Region.First, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Aung Naing Thu and officials observed and encouraged the students participating in the Painting Competition. A total of 696 students from primary, middle, and high schools across Yangon Region took part in the competition. Preserving Cultural Heritage : Plan to nominate Htamane for UNESCO recognition
Myanmar plans to nominate its traditional Htamane practice for UNESCO recognition as part of efforts to preserve and promote the country’s cultural heritage.Htamane is a traditional Myanmar delicacy made from glutinous rice, sesame seeds, peanuts, coconut shavings, ginger and cooking oil. The dish is traditionally prepared communally during the cool season, particularly at pagodas and monasteries, where people gather to cook large batches together as part of religious and social celebrations.The move follows the inscription of Myanmar’s traditional Thingyan Water Festival on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2024. Myanmar has also resubmitted its nomination for the traditional practice of applying Thanaka, with a final decision on its acceptance expected in December 2026.This year, Laphet has also been nominated to UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage element. Under UNESCO guidelines, member countries are generally permitted to submit only one cultural element for intangible cultural heritage recognition each year, or alternatively, one submission every two years.
