US Secretary of State Pete Hegseth arrived in Singapore on May 29 for the 23rd Shangri-La Dialogue, Asia’s leading defence forum. Hegseth met Prime Minister Lawrence Wong at the Istana, reaffirming 60 years of Singapore-US diplomatic ties and bilateral defence cooperation.

Defence Minister Chan Chun Sing joined a separate discussion with Hegseth on regional security and SAF training in the US. Hegseth also visited the USS Boxer, taking part in exercises and engaging with service members, and will speak on “US Strategy for Peace in the Indo-Pacific” on Saturday.
