Union Minister Dr. Maung Thin attended the Kayin State MSME Product Exhibition and Sales at Myoma Football Ground in Hpa-An on Saturday. The event aimed to support local businesses by promoting high-quality products and expanding market opportunities.

The Union Minister, along with state officials, opened the fair and visited more than 40 exhibition booths displaying food products, construction materials, machinery, fertilizers, garments, consumer goods, gemstones, and rubber products from 42 entrepreneurs.

Later, the Union Minister attended a youth meeting organized by the Myanmar Youth Affairs Committee and the Kayin State Youth Affairs Committee. He delivered opening remarks, donated sports equipment for young people, and answered questions raised by youth leaders.

THE combined gross domestic product (GDP) of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries reached US$3.02 trillion in 2025, up 16.6 per cent from 2020, Kazinform news agency reported Friday. The union’s combined GDP growth is projected at around 2.5 per cent in 2026 and 2027, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said during a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council held Friday in Astana, Kazakhstan’s capital. This year mutual trade among EAEU member states is expected to exceed US$100 billion, Tokayev told the meeting. In 2025, trade turnover among EAEU countries reached $95 billion, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at an expanded meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. Industrial output across the EAEU increased by 18.9 per cent in 2021-2025, reaching $1.69 trillion, while agricultural production rose by 12.4 per cent to $167.5 billion, according to data presented at a plenary session of the fifth Eurasian Economic Forum, held Thursday through Friday in Astana. — Xinhuagnlm

The Myanmar–India Trade and Investment Conclave was held in New Delhi on Sunday, providing a significant platform for enhancing economic cooperation and expanding commercial ties between the two neighboring countries.Held during the official visit of President U Min Aung Hlaing to India, the conclave brought together government officials, business leaders, investors, and representatives from industry organizations to explore new opportunities for trade, investment, and bilateral collaboration. President U Min Aung Hlaing attended the event and delivered a keynote address. According to the statistics, bilateral trade between Myanmar and India has shown steady growth in recent years, with 1.95 billion dollar bilateral trade in 2025–2026.Myanmar’s major exports to India include pulses, beans, rubber, fishery products, timber products, and garments. Deputy Minister for Finance and Revenue Daw Than Than Lin, led a Myanmar delegation to the third Deputy Minister-level coordination meeting on the establishment of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Development Bank (SCOB), held in Bishkek of Kyrgyzstan on 28 May.The meeting was co-chaired by Deputy Finance Ministers of China and Kyrgyzstan. Union Minister for Industry and MSME Development Dr. Charlie Than met with the Chairman of the Myanmar Seafarers Federation at the ministry in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday.The meeting focused on encouraging returning seafarers to participate in MSME development activities. The Union Minister said seafarers are not only foreign currency earners for the country but also valuable skilled human resources with international-level technical expertise, discipline, English communication skills, and work experience. He noted that, after returning home, seafarers can contribute to the country’s economy through MSME-related businesses.The Union Minister highlighted the ministry’s efforts to provide practical support on how seafarers can apply the skills and experience gained overseas to Myanmar’s economic development. He said seafarers have experience in the systematic use of raw materials, resource management, technical operations, and international-standard working practices, which can benefit local businesses.He encouraged seafarers to participate in renewable energy businesses, battery and power system services, refrigeration and seafood production, ice-making businesses, cold-chain transportation, warehousing, logistics, import/export services, maritime English and safety training, modern agriculture, manufacturing, and solar-powered water pumping systems. To help transform seafarers into entrepreneurs, the ministry will provide entrepreneurship and MSME development training, consulting services, assistance in accessing finance, and trade-related training through the establishment of seafarer cooperatives.The Chairman of the Myanmar Seafarers Federation explained the formation of the federation, its current activities, and future plans.
