France's 'Choose France' summit is set to surpass previous foreign investment records, with 93 billion euros in projects announced for the ninth edition launched under President Emmanuel Macron, focusing on data centers, artificial intelligence and logistics.

 Macron said Money already pledged as part of the annual "Choose France" meeting would surpass the combined 87 billion euros raised over the past eight years. This year's pledges include 45 billion euros from Japanese tech investor SoftBank.

Its founder, Masayoshi Son, said over the weekend that the money would be spent by 2031 on data centers in northern France. They would also be spent on "artificial intelligence, on data centers" as well as semiconductors, critical minerals, tractors and trucks, steel and healthcare.

DPTSC offers solar energy workshop
Department of Power Transmission and System Control (DPTSC) under the Ministry of Electricity and Energy (MOEE) will host a workshop on Electricity Generation using solar energy that is scheduled to be held in the first week of July.Although Myanmar has abundant solar resources, the amount of electricity generated and utilized from solar energy remains low. The ministry is promoting increased electricity generation from solar energy through integrating solar systems into the national power grid at an appropriate ratio and promoting the installation and use of solar systems by individuals or groups.The ministry states that addressing technical limitations and management challenges encountered in these efforts will bring about effective measures and quick implementation of the projects.The ministry is planning to host a comprehensive workshop during the first week of July 2026 to significantly scale up the contribution of solar power to the nation’s electricity consumption. The Myanmar–India Trade and Investment Conclave was held in New Delhi of India on Sunday. President U Min Aung Hlaing attended the event and delivered a keynote address, Myanmar and India share a long-standing relationship based on geographical proximity, historical connections, and strategic interests.As neighboring countries linked through India’s Act East Policy and Neighbourhood First Policy, the visit aimed at further strengthening Myanmar's efforts to accelerate regional economic cooperation and integration. He stated that Myanmar formed a new democratically elected government on April 10, 2026, and is working with partner countries to promote sustainable economic growth and development.Myanmar–India bilateral trade currently averages about 1.5 billion US dollar annually, with Myanmar exporting more goods than it imports from India. India has invested more than 782 million US dollar in 39 projects in Myanmar, mainly in the industrial, energy, telecommunications, services, and agriculture sectors.The President invited Indian businesses to invest in key sectors including agriculture, livestock, pharmaceutical manufacturing, information technology, digital services, education, and healthcare. He also highlighted the importance of the Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project and the India-Myanmar-Thailand Trilateral Highway, saying they will boost regional trade and connectivity.The President added that Myanmar and India introduced a direct Rupee-Kyat payment system in 2024 through the Special Rupee Vostro Account (SRVA) mechanism, reducing transaction costs and facilitating faster trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.The President emphasized that Myanmar serves as a strategic land bridge connecting India with ASEAN and China, and called for stronger economic cooperation to create mutually beneficial win-win opportunities for both countries.The Secretary General of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and the Senior Advisor of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) also discussed bilateral economic cooperation and business-to-business engagement.In response to queries from Indian entrepreneurs, the concerned Union Ministers and officials provided  clarifications on government facilitation measures and promising investment opportunities. In his concluding remarks, the President reiterated that invitations had been extended for investments in sectors that offer mutual benefits to both countries.He also announced the formation of a committee comprising representatives from both countries to facilitate smooth coordination and implementation procedures. THE combined gross domestic product (GDP) of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries reached US$3.02 trillion in 2025, up 16.6 per cent from 2020, Kazinform news agency reported Friday. The union’s combined GDP growth is projected at around 2.5 per cent in 2026 and 2027, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said during a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council held Friday in Astana, Kazakhstan’s capital. This year mutual trade among EAEU member states is expected to exceed US$100 billion, Tokayev told the meeting. In 2025, trade turnover among EAEU countries reached $95 billion, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at an expanded meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. Industrial output across the EAEU increased by 18.9 per cent in 2021-2025, reaching $1.69 trillion, while agricultural production rose by 12.4 per cent to $167.5 billion, according to data presented at a plenary session of the fifth Eurasian Economic Forum, held Thursday through Friday in Astana. — Xinhuagnlm
