The tourist activity is seen during the short holidays in Yangon and surrounding areas, such as day trips and pilgrimages, according to the tourism circle.During long holidays in the open season, local visitors travel long journeys, while they tend to make day trips and short journeys to the resorts and destinations near Yangon during short holidays and weekends, said an official from the Union of Myanmar Travel Association (UMTA).“People travel depending on the length of their holidays. For a short holiday, they make day trips near Yangon. During long holidays, we see them travelling to other cities,” he said.Domestic tourists travel in their own cars as well as in connection with Travel & Tours. Trips they are selling now include day trips and one-night trips on weekends to Pantapwint Hill near Yangon, Nay Pyi Taw, Bago, Kyaiktiyo, Toungoo, and Zalun.Domestic tourism this year was up from last year during the October Thadingyut holiday, and many people are reportedly preparing to travel during the upcoming Tazaungdaing holiday. — MT/ZNGNLM
