Arrangements are being made to grow a total of 12,406 acres of sunflower as cold season crops in Myaungmya District of Ayeyawady Region this year, said Daw Khin Htay Myint, the Head of the district Agriculture Department.
In Myaungmya District, during this year’s winter cropping season, sunflower cultivation is planned for 11,406 acres, starting in the second week of December. Of these 11,406 acres, 2,310 acres will be in Einme Township, 8,691 acres in Wakema Township, and 405 acres in Myaungmya Township.
“Before the winter crops are planted in Myaungmya District, we have already provided farmers with guidance on cultivation techniques. In addition, to ensure high yields and good-quality crops, technical support programs are being conducted for farmers. Fertilizers and necessary soil nutrients are also being coordinated and supplied through relevant organizations. Training is being provided to ensure that farmers can apply these fertilizers according to proper agricultural practices,” said Daw Khin Htay Myint.
To ensure that all winter crops, including oilseeds, are planted according to planned targets, local farmers are working in coordination with the District Agriculture Department, the Irrigation and Water Utilization Management Department, the AgroIndustrial Department, and administrative committees. It is reported that farmers and the Agriculture Department are working together to fully
