The Hpa-An–Kawkareik–Myawady section of the Asia Highway, a major trade route between Myanmar and Thailand, has reopened on Thursday.The road, part of the Greater Mekong Sub-region East–West Economic Corridor, is a vital link for cross-border trade and local transportation. It stretches over 165 kilometers from Duyin Seik Village in Hpa-An Township to the Myanmar–Thailand Friendship Bridge No.1.The route had been closed due to damage to roads and bridges, caused by the terrorists. Authorities have now repaired the infrastructure and restored stability, allowing the road to reopen. On the first day, a total of 640 vehicles, including passenger buses, cargo trucks, and private cars, traveled along the route between Hpa-An and Myawady. Officials are conducting inspections along the road to ensure safety, smooth travel, and faster flow of goods.mitv
