Armed groups named KNPP, KNDF, and PDF carried out a second bombing attack on the Thanlwin Bridge (Hpasawng) at 10 am on 25 February 2026. The bridge links Hpasawng and Mese townships in Kayah State.
Reports said the explosion caused the collapse of a section 300 feet long and 24 feet wide between piers P 5 and P 7 on the western side of the bridge. Authorities confirmed there were no civilian casualties.
The Thanlwin Bridge (Hpasawng), a reinforced concrete bridge completed in 2015, is 1,260 feet long and 24 feet wide, with pedestrian walkways on both sides. The damage has halted vehicle traffic and disrupted regional transport and goods flow.

Tatmadaw columns completely regained control of Pasaung on February 15, after it had been temporarily occupied by KNPP, KNDF, and so-called PDF terrorists. While security forces continued regional stabilization efforts in the area, news was previously released regarding the terrorists' senseless destruction of the Thanlwin Bridge (Pasaung) on February 17 and the Pon Chaung Bridge on February 20.These acts were carried out to prevent military columns from pursuing and crushing them. At approximately 10:00 AM, on February 25, 2026, KNPP, KNDF, and PDF terrorists detonated mines to attack the Thanlwin Bridge (Pasaung) for a second time. This bridge is a vital link between Pasaung and Mese townships in Kayah State, serving as a primary artery for public travel and the flow of goods.The explosion caused a section of the bridge between piers P-5 and P-7 (located on the western side) to collapse. Approximately 300 feet in length and 24 feet in width. No injuries or deaths were reported. The Thanlwin Bridge (Pasaung) is a major crossing over the Thanlwin River near Pasaung.Its technical specifications are reinforced Concrete (RC), 1,260 feet long and 24 feet wide, 3-foot paths on both the left and right sides and construction was completed and the bridge was opened for public use in 2015. Due to the reckless and destructive actions of the terrorists, motor vehicles and travelers can no longer pass through, resulting in a total standstill of commodity flow. Although these groups claim to act for regional benefit, they have targeted a non-military infrastructure project to serve their own interests. The graduation parade of the 129th Intake (Thiha Company) of the Army Officer Training School (Ba Htoo) was held at the parade ground of the Army Officer Training School (Ba Htoo) in Ba Htoo in the morning of February 25th.The parade was attended by the Vice-Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Commander-in-Chief (Army), Vice-Senior General, Thiri Pyannchi Maha Thray Sithu, Soe Win who delivered the graduation address on behalf of the Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Senior General Thadoe Maha Thray Sithu Thadoe Thiri Thudhamma Min Aung Hlaing.At the graduation parade, the Vice-Senior General accepted the salute of the cadet companies and inspected the cadet companies.
