Social Security : National-level meeting of the Social Security Board
The Ministry of Labor hosted a national-level meeting of the Social Security Board on Tuesday. Union Minister U Aung Kyaw Hoe attended the meeting, and discussed the government's efforts to provide effective healthcare services and social security benefits to insured workers.
He highlighted the successful expansion of the social security scheme, which now covers over 1.34 million insured workers in 128 townships. The committee also shared updates on providing better healthcare services through private hospitals and clinics, and reimbursement for medical expenses.
Additionally, the ministry addressed relief measures for workers affected by the 2025 earthquake in Mandalay, offering financial aid and education support for over 100,000 affected insured workers. The meeting also included discussions on improving social protection programs and supporting the socio-economic development of workers. The Union Minister urged all to continue improving services and to learn from international best practices to further enhance the social security system across the country.
