The 1387 Traditional Myanmar Cultural Maha Thingyan Festival will be held in Pyay, Bago Region, featuring a lively programme of walking Thingyan, at the central pavilion, and traditional dance competitions, according to the organizing committee.
To ensure a vibrant celebration, construction of the central pavilion is underway near the General Aung San statue at the junction of Lanmadaw Road and Bogyoke Road in downtown Pyay, under the supervision of responsible officials. Dance troupes from major wards such as Nawin, Sinsu, Kyaunggyi Ohtan, Khittaya, and Ywabae, along with departmental teams, are currently rehearsing their traditional choral dances in preparation for the competition.
The walking Thingyan will take place along the route from the central pavilion to the old night market street, adding to the festive atmosphere.
During the Maha Thingyan festival days, the central pavilion will host daily morning and evening entertainment programmes, including music performances, choral dance competitions by ward and departmental teams, and satuditha feasts. The closing ceremony of the Basic Space Technology Summer Course for the basic education level was held on the afternoon of March 31 at the Space Museum (Yangon) in Dagon Township, Kyauktada District, Yangon Region.The event was attended by Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Myanmar Space Agency Chief Executive Officer Dr. Soe Myint Maung, Deputy Chief Executive Officer Dr. Myo Thant, region government members, course instructors, teachers and students from basic education schools, invited guests, and officials.First, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein delivered an opening speech, expressing his gratitude to the responsible officials who collaborated to make the course a reality. He stated his belief that the course would serve as a strong foundation for the participating students, equipping them with knowledge applicable to their personal lives and the betterment of the country.He also expressed his hope that by systematically studying the subjects taught, the students would grow into reliable and valuable citizens capable of serving the nation in the future. Next, the Chief Executive Officer of the Myanmar Space Agency, Dr. Soe Myint Maung, delivered a speech.Following this, Dr. Soe Myint Maung presented awards to the outstanding students of the Basic Space Technology Summer Course. Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein also handed out awards to the winning students, as well as certificates of honor to those who assisted in organizing the program.Afterwards, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and officials cordially greeted the attendees. It was reported that during the four-week course, instructors taught 207 students from basic education schools. The curriculum covered subjects including the application of satellites in scientific and socio-economic sectors, space rockets and satellite launching processes, communication systems between satellites and ground stations, components used in satellite construction, the principles of motion for space objects, and satellite-based Earth observation systems.mitv

The Myanmar U17 women’s football team is intensifying scientific fitness training in preparation for the final stage of the 2026 AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup, aiming to achieve strong results.The team faces a tough group stage alongside host China, Thailand, and Vietnam. Due to the high level of competition, they are making necessary adjustments and improvements ahead of the tournament.Myanmar previously played two friendly matches against India U17 women’s team in Yangon on 12 and 14 March, losing both matches. Following those results, the coaching staff has been addressing weaknesses and accelerating preparations, with a strong focus on fitness, according to the Myanmar Football Federation.Players have undergone Body Composition (InBody) measurements, as well as Endurance and Fitness Tests, including the Yo-Yo test, to evaluate stamina and physical condition. Based on these results, individual training programmes and nutrition plans are tailored for each player.
