Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Kaynes Semicon Plant at Sanand Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. This marks the commencement of commercial production at the facility, representing a significant milestone in India’s semiconductor journey.

It is the second semiconductor facility, after Micron Technology, among the approved projects under the programme to commence commercial production. When all phases of the plant are completed, it has the capacity to produce 6.33 million units per day.
