  • EV YBS buses begin trial runs in Yangon

EV buses have been substituted on trial for YBS buses currently running in the Yangon Region, according to the Yangon Region Public Transport Committee (YRTC).
Two EV YBS buses were purchased under the approval of the Leading Committee on Development of Electric Vehicles and Related Businesses, said YRTC joint secretary U Lyan Cing Mang.
“In place of current YBS buses, we have used two EV YBS buses as a shuttle bus on trial for students of the Space Museum and the University of Nursing,” he said.
The government has researched the EV bus project, which aims to meet 32 per cent in 2030, 67 per cent in 2040 and 100 per cent in 2050.
The total cost of an EV bus is US$95,150 per unit, according to YRTC. — MT/ZS
