In the evening on April 6, Nay Pyi Taw Council Member U Zayar Lin held a meeting with members of the working sub-committees at the precinct of the Moe Kaung Hsu Taung Pyae Pagoda in Bo Min Yaung Ward to ensure the successful celebration of the Tatkone Township Myanmar Traditional Maha Thingyan Festival and the Walking Thingyan Festival.

First, U Aung Thu, Chairman of the Festival Organizing Committee and Chairman of the Township Management and Administration Committee, along with the chairpersons and members of the working sub-committees, presented their preparations and work plans including construction of the central pavilion, fundraising efforts, Satuditha charity food and Thanaka pavilions, traffic safety and festival security, healthcare services and traditional dance troupes (Yein) and entertainment programs.

Following the presentations, the Nay Pyi Taw Council Member provided additional instructions to ensure the festival is lively and that the public can participate in the water-throwing festivities peacefully and happily. He then inspected the construction progress of the central pavilion and the designated Walking Thingyan area. 

Subsequently, U Zayar Lin and other officials paid homage to Bhaddanta Vijaya, the presiding Sayadaw of the Moe Kaung Pagoda Monastery, offering alms and cash donations. Afterward, they visited the reconstruction site of the Buddha Sasana Beikman, which was being rebuilt after being damaged by the Mandalay earthquake. The Council Member inspected the ongoing construction work and delivered instructions regarding workplace safety, it’s reported.

The Ministry of Energy released update on national fuel consumption and management stating petroleum products such as petrol, diesel, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) account for 29 percent of the country's energy consumption and are primarily used in the transportation sector.Because 97 percent of the petrol and diesel consumed in the transportation sector have to be purchased and imported from abroad, countries like Myanmar that rely heavily on imports are facing extremely difficult circumstances during the current global fuel crisis.As the State is addressing this fuel shortage by implementing strict management strategies and digital technology-based sales systems, the nation's fuel importation, distribution, and sales have gotten onto the right track, allowing us to significantly reduce fuel consumption. According to data from February 20, 2026, to date, the average daily fuel consumption has dropped from 3.54 million gallons to 2.5 million gallons. Reducing the average daily consumption rate by 29 percent will not only save approximately 6 million USD in foreign exchange spending per day but will also allow for an additional 10 days of reserve fuel storage.The State has to import about 5 million tons of fuel annually, costing over 5 billion USD. If fuel can be systematically consumed in this manner, it will save approximately 2 billion USD per year. Regarding national fuel sufficiency, there are current reserves of about 40 days for petrol and 50 days for diesel. Arrangements have already been made to import an additional 26 shipments vessels within April. Furthermore, long-term plans are being formulated to import fuel from friendly nations, and necessary connections are being established to secure these purchases.It is vital that the public trusts only the official news released by the Ministry of Energy and cooperates accordingly. The Ministry of Energy is actively contacting and issuing warnings to media outlets that are publishing baseless rumors or using headlines intended to incite public anxiety.The public is urged to comply with the published regulations for purchasing fuel. Fuel stations are also reminded that if additional fuel is needed beyond the QR code sales system, provisions are in place for emergency fuel replenishment. Therefore, buying and selling should be conducted without anxiety. It’s hereby announced and requested that everyone cooperates by contacting the designated Call Centers if any difficulties arise.mitv
