The crew of the Artemis II mission on Monday broke the record for the farthest distance from Earth ever traveled by humans, surpassing the milestone achieved by Apollo 13 in April 1970, according to NASA. The four crew members are NASA commander Reid Wiseman, pilot Victor Glover, mission specialist Christina Koch, and Canadian Space Agency mission specialist Jeremy Hansen.

The mission was launched from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in the U.S. state of Florida on April 1. The mission does not include a lunar landing. Splashdown is scheduled for April 10 in the Pacific Ocean off San Diego, California.
