Consecration Ceremony: Consecration ceremony for Tooth Relic Pagoda held
The Buddha Abhiseka (consecration) ceremony and the merit-sharing to mark the successful completion of the 7th offering of entirely gilding the VaradāḷāDhātu Cetiya Sacred Tooth Relic Pagoda in Yangon by the Board of Trustees was held in the morning of April 8 at the pagoda, located in Mayangone Township, Yangon Region.
The event was attended by the Ovādācariya Sayadaws, Chief Minister of Yangon Region U Soe Thein, region ministers, departmental officials, members of the Board of Trustees, invited guests, and responsible personnel. First, the Ovādācariya Sayadaws performed the Buddha Abhiseka consecration. Afterwards, the participants took the Eight Precepts from the Ovādācariya Sayadaw, who is also the Chairman Sayadaw of the Yangon Region Sangha Nayaka Committee and the Presiding Sayadaw of the TipiṭakaLaṅkāra Pariyatti Sarthintaik Monastery, Bhaddanta Aggasāmi .
Subsequently, on behalf of the Board of Trustees, member (administration) U TunShwe submitted a summary report on the completion of the 7th offering of entirely gilding the pagoda to the Ovādācariya Sayadaws. Then, responsible officials offered offertories to the Ovādācariya Sayadaws. Afterwards, the Ovādācariya Sayadaw of the Board of Trustees of the VaradāḷāDhātu Cetiya (Yangon), who is also the Rector of the International Theravāda Buddhist Missionary University, Professor Dr. BhaddantaSekinda, delivered the sermon, followed by the pouring of water to share merits, it’s reported.
