  • India marks 200th birth anniversary of Jyotiba Phule

Indian President Droupadi Murmu, along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Saturday paid floral tributes to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule on the Parliament premises in New Delhi. Mahatma Jyotirao Phule was a prominent Indian social reformer who empowered the rights of marginalized communities and was a trailblazer in promoting women’s education.

Along with his followers, he founded the Society of Seekers of Truth, aimed at securing equal rights for peasants and lower-caste communities. In this year, India was commemorating the 200th birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule with the attendance of country’s top officials.

Japan's transport ministry said a ban on the use of power banks on airplanes will go into effect on April 24. The move is in response to a number of incidents where lithium-ion mobile batteries have caught fire or started releasing smoke inside airplanes. The ministry announced on Tuesday that the new rules will apply to all flights into and out of Japan.The ministry said the measure is in line with restrictions put in place by the International Civil Aviation Organization in March. At the invitation of Mr. Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation, and Mr. S.E. Tsivilev, Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, the Union Minister for the Ministry of Electricity and Energy, U Ko Ko Lwin, departed from Mandalay International Airport on the afternoon of April 12.He is traveling to the Russian Federation via China from April 12 to 18, to enhance cooperation in the electricity and energy sector between Myanmar and Russia. The Union Minister was seen off at the airport by the Chief Minister of Mandalay Region, region government members, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Electricity and Energy, and responsible officials.The Union Minister and his delegation arrived in Kunming, China, in the evening. They were hosted at a working dinner by a delegation led by Mr. Liu Yong, Vice Governor of Yunnan Province, during which they exchanged views on cooperation in the electricity and energy sector. Discussions with China Southern Power Grid included the current implementation status of the China-Myanmar cross-border power grid, plans to conduct exploratory work for hydropower projects along the Mekong River at the Myanmar-Laos border, potential participation in the construction of the Laos-Myanmar cross-border power line, the necessity of making advance preparations and drafting plans to build a power grid network that will transmit electricity to power-consuming areas in the south once hydropower projects in northern Myanmar are completed, prioritizing efforts to reduce power losses in the electricity distribution system within Yangon, the desire to implement a practical system design suitable for Myanmar's power grid by integrating EV Charging Stations with solar energy to reduce fuel consumption.Discussions with Yunnan Energy Group and Union Resources & Engineering Co., Ltd included, the potential for constructing solar and wind power plants in Myanmar, accelerating the implementation of the hydropower, solar, wind, and LNG power plant projects currently being undertaken by the companies in Myanmar.During the meeting with Yunnan Xianshang Export and Import Co., Ltd., they negotiated and discussed the long-term importation of fuel oil into Myanmar at favorable, affordable rates, it’s reported.mitv
